Set Multiple Categories to Your SharePoint Blog Posts

SharePoint Blog template is really nice one, Quick and easy, but by default SharePoint allows to set only one category to per post.

You can overcome this limitation, and have multiple category to individual posts.

Actually “Category” is nothing but a lookup column of “Categories” list in “Posts”.

Follow this steps and have multiple categories. J

  1. In your home page of blog Select “Manage posts” from admin links

  1. In posts list select Settings > List Settings

  2. Select ‘Category’ column

  3. This will open page to edit the column “Category”. In Additional Column Settings section, just check “Allow multiple Values”. And click OK.
  4. This will set your list to allow selecting multiple categories for your posts.

The annoyi9ng thing with many Microsoft SharePoint templates is that you can not delete the ‘Title’ field. You have to make it a Content Type and hide it if you don’t want to use it or rename it.
